Welcome to the world of Zilog 2. Z2 is an RPG/Strategy type game
designed for the TI-82 graphing calculator. Z2 is shareware. If you enjoy
it, I ask only one thing of you: please share it with at least one other TI-82
user.

---------------
  Story/Plot
---------------
The year is 2021, 25 years after the rise and fall of Zilog. An army
of various mutants known as the Boort have fled the red, decaying planet Grem.
Under the leadership of Zuvaj, who is believed to be a direct descendant of
Zilog, the Boort are moving to the nearest planet, which happens to be Lojar,
where you live. Since Lojar is nearly fully populated the Boort are planning
to invade Lojar and overtake it. And once again your town, Astum, is relying
on you to save them from imminent disaster. Go now... a host of mutants is
awaiting your death.

   Tutorial
---------------
First of all, run the program ZILOG2 to start the game. You will be
brought to the main menu. From here you can start a new game, save a game,
load a saved game, view some information about the author of the game, and
quit the game.
Let's assume you want to start a new game. Push enter. You will be
brought to another menu. From here you have the choices to start a normal
game or import a map (1-6). The import map options are for user-created
levels which you will learn how to make later using the Map Editor. For now
start a normal game.
Another menu will come up asking you to choose character 1. You get
to control two characters in this game. Select any two characters that you
wish.
Now the King of Astum will give you your mission objective. Once you
have read that push enter.
The first map will now load. Once the map is loaded the cursor will
come up in the center of the map. Try moving that around now by pushing the
arrow keys.
Now let's take a look at the status bar on -----------------------
the right. The status bar consists of seven | | | |
different rectangles. In the upper-left box is | Gold |Trees |Stone |
how much gold you have. In the upper-center box -----------------------
is the number of trees. In the upper-right box is | Which player's turn |
the amount of stone. Just under that is which | it is |
character's turn it is. Under that is recent -----------------------
information that you've accomplished. The bottom- | |
left is the number of turns you've taken during | |
this level. The bottom-right shows your score. | |
Now move your cursor over one of the trees. | Recent info |
Push enter. Now select Cut tree from the options | |
menu. Notice how the upper-center box changed from | |
zero to one. Now try the same thing with a stone | |
wall (those parallel lines on the map). Push enter -----------------------
on one. Then select Get stone. Now notice that | | |
your bottom-left box has changed too. | Turns | Score |
Now lets try saving our game. Push the -----------------------
Y= button (which is basically the same as your escape key in most computer
games). You will be brought to the main menu. Select the save game option.
Your game is now saved. As long as you do not change List 3 and Pic6 your
save game will remain intact. Once you're back at the main menu you can
push Y= again to return to your game.

 Gameplay Tips
---------------
Push enter when you're in a game to get to the options menu. If you
push enter when you're on a building (farm, blacksmith, mage's hut, cleric's
hut, or lumber mill) you will enter that building. A unique menu will come
up for each.
Large gold mines look like circles with two lines through it. A
small gold mine looks like a circle with one line through it. An enemy looks
like two towers together. A stone wall looks like two parallel lines. The
rest shouldn't be too hard to figure out.
Once you have completed your mission objectives go to the options
menu and hit Return to King. If you have completed your mission you will be
given a new mission.
The less turns you take for your mission the higher your score will
be.
In an attack sequence your opponent is listed in the box at the top
of the screen. After it's name is it's attacking power then a / then it's
Hitpoints.
Some resources are shared between both characters, such as gold,
trees, stone, and spells. HP, agility, speed, MP, and strength however are
not shared between characters.
Here are the requirements for creating buildings:
            | Gold | Trees | Stone | Farms
-------------------------------------------
    Farm | 1 | 1 | |
Blacksmith | 3 | | 4 | 1
Mage's Hut | 4 | 1 | 1 | 2
Cleric's Hut| 3 | 1 | 1 | 2
Lumber Mill | 2 | 2 | | 1

---------------
 Map Editing
---------------
You can create your own maps for Z2 using the Map Editor
(z2maped.exe). In the Map Editor use tab to switch between the map cursor
and the menus. Once you are done setting up the elements in your map, go to
the file menu and hit Done. Then you will be asked for some more properties
of your map. Those should be self-explanatory.
All maps must be named either MAP1, ..., or MAP6.
If you're interested in doing a total-conversion (making a new
Z2MAPS), please e-mail me and I will assist you as best as I can.
