Introduction
------------
TREK1 is based on the Star Trek episode "Arena" and the Star Trek
movies II, III, IV, and VI. It was first programmed by David Zwicker
in December 1995 and slightly improved in June 1997. Please do not
modify the game or the credits given.

Memory
------
TREK1 uses three programs (AWAYTEAM, CLRTEXT, and TREK1) and all 6
pictures. It uses 22680 bytes for programs and 4584 bytes for
pictures.

Viewpoints
----------
While on board the Enterprise your point of view is on the bridge,
looking at the main display screen. Elsewhere you have a bird's eye
view of yourself and your surroundings.

Starting the Game
-----------------
Select the program TREK1 to begin playing. If you have previously
played and remember your password, Choose the "password" option at the
play menu.

Briefing
--------
At the beginning of a mission, Admiral Zwicker
will give you orders which will direct you to a certain system.
Remember them. You will not see them again.

Control
-------
From the bridge you may give orders to Spock, Uhura, Chekov, Sulu, or
Scotty. You may also aim and fire phasers and photon torpedoes at
other ships or beam something aboard the enterprise. The arrows
control the scope. To hit a target you must have the scope placed
directly over it. Take your time and wait for the scope to move
before trying to move it again. To fire the phasers, press the (-)
key. To fire the photons, press the 0 key. You must have Chekov load
the photon torpedo launcher once before you can fire three torpedoes.
Phasers can do more damage, but not necessarily every time you fire
them. If you are attempting to beam an alien up from their own ship,
place the scope over him and press enter.

The top five keys call up the officers to whom you give orders. Each
button corresponds to the name above it in the display portion of the
split screen. Here is a list of your officers and their duties.

OFFICER DUTY STATION DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Spock Sensors Reports information concerning the
                              location and surroundings of the
Enterprise. If the sensors are damaged,
he may be unable to give you sufficient
information, and the display screen may
fail to indicate a ship's position
                              periodically.

Uhura Communications Hails or receives hails from ships,
                              starbases and planets

Chekov Weapons Raises and lowers shields, arms the
                              photon torpedoes, and operates any
                              foreign devices you beam aboard

Sulu Navigation Warps you to a star system of your choice

Scotty Engineering Gives a damage report, operates the
                              transporter and self-destructs the ship
if you decide to end your game early.

Away from the ship, you will beam into the center of the screen with
four positions that can be occupied by personnel, supplies and other
items. You may walk around aim and fire your phaser, scan with your
tricorder, or have things beamed up and down, including yourself. The
main functions are again accessed by means of the top five keys.

FUNCTION DEALS WITH DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION

Scan Tricorder Press Scan and then an arrow indicating
the general direction in which you would
like to take a reading. What you are
scanning will be identified at the bottom

Item Cargo Hold Press Item to find out what is currently
in the Enterprise' cargo hold. The items
and personnel you beam up are kept there
unless they are to be used to repair the
ship. If there is something there, it
must be beamed out before anything else
can be beamed up, with the exception of
                              yourself.

Die Game Over This is a sucide option in case you need
                              to end the game early.

B. Up Transporter Press B. Up, then an arrow pointing in
the direction indicating the item or
person you intend to have beamed into the
                              Enterprise' cargo hold. To order
yourself beamed aboard, press B. Up
                              followed by Enter.

B. Dn Transporter Press B. Dn followed by an arrow
indicating the space you want the
contents of the cargo hold beamed into.
There are four possible positions, one at
each edge of the screen. You may not
have anything beamed on top of another
                              person or item.

You may also find yourself armed with a stick up against a stone-
throwing opponent. Move around using the arrows. To hit your opponent
with a stick, move directly beside, above, or below him and press the
arrow that indicates his direction relative to your position. Do this
until you have defeated him and you are beamed back aboard. Try not to
get hit by a stone. A couple of flying stones will kill you.

ENJOY THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!
