I. Introduction
I once played StarTrek for the 82 and thought it was kind of neat.
However, I never saw the game again, so I decided to remake the game using
TNG (The Next Generation) ships and the old ideas of sectors. The world you
will be playing in is filled with excitement as you fight Klingon Birds of
Prey, Romulon Warbirds, and the Borg Cube. I hope you will enjoy this
version of the game.

II. Installation
In order to run the game properly, you will need the following files
transfered to your TI-82 or 83 calculator:

  Name Description
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
STARNORM Stuff for Normal Running (StarTrek title)
  STARRED Stuff for Red Alert
STARTREK The main file to run
  STARWIND Opens a "window"
STARXPLD Destroys things on the screen
TITLE Shining Light Productions' title screen
  Pic2 Romulon Warbird picture
  Pic5 Borg Cube picture
Pic6 Klingon Bird of Prey picture

Once the programs have been loaded onto your calculator, run STARTREK. I am
NOT to be held responsible if you run any other program besides STARTREK and
you get an error or something unwanted happens.

III. How to play
All of the instructions you need are available from the main menu. One
thing that I need to make clear is that the Normal Running screen has
StarTrek written at the top. Here are a few hints to help you get started:

1) You can only save a game from the Normal Running screen.
2) The Klingon Bird of Prey is the easiest to kill while the Borg Cube is
    the hardest.
3) Use all of your photon torpedos first and recharge them ONLY whenever
    necessary.
4) Go back to a starbase (or add one) to "recharge" and then go to the next
    sector.
5) Use phasers as a last resort (even though they are more powerful in the
    long run).
6) The probability of 3 borg ships appearing all in a row is 4% although 2
will appear in a row 22% of the time.
